Christmas 2009

Welcome!

I've finally started my Christmas decorating this year.  It took me a while to get started but, I'm getting happy with it so far.  This year I'm into Mercury Glass, Silver and anything shiny.  It is so beautiful!  I've also used lots of color too.  I love jewel tones as you can tell by the Ruby Stemware.

I love to add a little bit of whimsy in my decor and also love things that are unusual in design.

I'm trying to get a plan for the mantle.  It's coming along but needs a lot of help.  The stocking holders are so pretty.  Rhinestones in the shape of snowflakes.  I ordered Mercury Glass Pillar candle holders.  They should be here in a few days.  I'm going to mix glass taper holders and the pillar holders with embellished pillar candles.  Need some serious bling.  Will post a picture when they arrive and I get everything in place.

The tree is very special this year.  It's a white tree with white lights.  I like to add all of the color.  Using mostly jewel tones which makes a beautiful accent against all the white branches  This year I've used irridescent snowflake sprays that stick out from the tree to bring the light out farther.  Also, some green star Christmas package wrap that I got from Pier 1.  I bought about 8 packages of it and linked them together to make garland. Gives it a nice touch.   A lot of the ornaments I have picked up along the way.  Most of the were purchased at the Christmas Shoppe in Pigeon Forge.  I like the different color sprays that I used.  Big spots of color give it an interesting texture.  I'll let you be the judge...

Several of the ornaments that I currently have on the tree...

I bought this cool Apothecary Jar at Marshalls.  I got inspired to decorate it like this when I attended a Wine Tasting.  One of the vendors there was a Candy Company.  They took Apothecary Jars and filled them up with different layers of candy.  So pretty.  So I got the idea to buy a couple more different styles of these inexpensive jars and fill them with candy and decorate them with wire ribbon and an ornament.  It's a multi-purpose gift that anyone would love.
Started working on my table next.  Turned out pretty well.  I had some help from a girlfriend.  Color palette is Red, Cream and Silver.  I  believe most of the items you see here came from Pier 1 last year.  I was able to wait for the sale on most of the items and picked up more napkin rings well after Christmas.  If you are patient you can really get good deals there.  Aren't the Ruby Glasses divine?  They were a gift from my best friend.  I fell in love with them the moment they came in sight.  It was the same with the mirrored accessories.  They had to be mine.  The Snowflake Place Card holders came from TJ Maxx.  I originally had them in mind for my mantle.  Thought they'd be cute up there, but as soon as I started decorating the table, they just fit right in.  I think this is one of the best tables I've done so far.  Now if I just had chairs for the table.  That will have to wait until after the New Year.  Just bought the table a month ago.  It's so beautiful.  And guess where I bought it....you guessed it...Pier 1!  Let's just say, I've kept Pier 1 in business.  They owe me!  I've decorated my whole house practically from Pier 1, TJ Maxx, WalMart, Target and Marshall's.
